A tasty slice of history in Warwickshire

ONE of England's finest country houses has joined forces with a premium caterer to serve up exquisite catering to match the prestigious backdrop.

The Grade I Listed Stoneleigh Abbey, which sits in 690 acres of Warwickshire parkland, has selected Amadeus as its sole event caterer after many years of having a panel of caterers.

The history of the Abbey, which hosts weddings, special occasions and a variety of other events and is open to the public on selected dates throughout the year, goes back to the year 1154.

Ownership of the impressive mansion passed into a Charitable Trust 16 years ago and a massive restoration project saw the Abbey returned to its previous splendour, whilst securing a finalist spot in the prestigious Country Life Magazine award for the best restoration of the 20th century.

Amadeus will cater for all events at Stoneleigh Abbey, which is located in the heart of Warwickshire, easily accessible from the M1, M6, M40 and M42.

Amadeus already delivers catering for a wide range of high quality events at a   number of prestigious historic venues including Hagley Hall, Kenilworth Castle, Coventry Transport Museum and Bolsover Castle. Part of the NEC Group, Amadeus delivers all the catering services at venues including the NEC, the ICC and the LG Arena.  It is also providing all the catering within Olympic Park North for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics this summer.

The exclusive catering contract with Amadeus to provide all catering for Stoneleigh Abbey is in recognition of the excellent existing relationship that the catering team have built with the Abbey personnel as a listed caterer. Also important was the expert sales support offered by Amadeus and most importantly the empathy and care shown by Amadeus staff towards the history and prestige of the listed venue.

In previous years the Amadeus team has catered for a number of prestigious corporate events at the Abbey including Stihl, Roche Pharmaceuticals and Massy Ferguson.

Tony Bird, Chairman of Stoneleigh Abbey, said: "We've had a relationship with Amadeus as one of our listed caterers for a number of years, and throughout that time the team has consistently delivered excellent service and first class menus.

"Their approach, high standards and support in areas such as sales and marketing along with, most importantly, the empathy and care shown towards the history and prestige of the listed venue really helped cement the exclusive contract.  They understand the challenges and opportunities that working in such an historic setting presents, which is of paramount importance to us.

"We want the best for our guests at the Abbey and we are confident that Amadeus will deliver outstanding and high quality hospitality in the unique and wonderful setting at Stoneleigh."

Stoneleigh Abbey hosts numerous events, conferences, meetings and banquets throughout the year and Amadeus will cater at all events for a range of dining needs including business lunches to weddings. Amadeus will also manage Stoneleigh Abbey's event marketing and sales.

Alyson Cawley, managing Director of Amadeus, said: "We are thrilled. It is a real privilege to operate in such a beautiful and historic setting as Stoneleigh Abbey. Our team is used to working in prestigious venues and our care, attention to detail and respect for the setting has supported Amadeus in the award of this contract.

"As two well-known hospitality brands based in the West Midlands, Amadeus is delighted to be teaming up with Stoneleigh Abbey. Guests at the Abbey will be treated to fine food in the finest of settings."
